Highly visual Web 2.0 enterprise applications promised.
Oracle announced today that it has teamed up with Adobe to enable enterprise software engineers to combine animations, charts and graphs in Flash with AJAX content created for Java-based portals.
According to the firms, the effort opens the door for applications with highly visual displays that can be quickly integrated with enterprise processes and data. These applications, dubbed 'Enterprise Mashups', will mix technologies and interactive user interface features to incorporate real-time animated graphs and visualisations based in Adobe Flash, HTML, or other AJAX-based components.
Jeff Whatcott, senior director of product marketing, Enterprise and Developer Business Unit, Adobe, explained that the deal centres on integrating Adobe Flex, the Adobe framework for building enterprise Flash applications, with the latest portal and web services standards.
"Enterprise developers want to create applications with the impact and effectiveness of Web 2.0 while preserving their commitment to standards-based infrastructure backed by strategic vendors," said Whatcott.
This integration will work with the current generation of Oracle Portal and with future user interaction environments being developed by Oracle. Oracle and Adobe said they will work to integrate their technologies within the JSR168, JSR286 and WSRP2.0 Portlet standards working groups.
